February...already?
Goodbye January 2026
SO much has happened in my non-writing world….which takes up 99% of my mental space these days. Let’s start off with the good news first. All three of my children are in primary school! I am both stunned, and so relieved I’ve reached the golden years of parenting my three not-so-littles. They’re out of diapers and not yet surly teens. I’m so grateful my husband and I have reached this golden era and we’ve been going on regular jungle treks to celebrate.
Publishing
I had a wonderful interview on motherhood, writing and everything in between with Nadia Mahjouri, the brilliant author of the incredible book Half Truth. It’s such a treat talking to someone who understands the feast and famine that can come with motherhood and writing. Her oldest kid is almost thirty, so she’s two decades ahead of me in terms of her parenting journey! Her advice? ENJOY this golden era!

Here’s a short course on how to complete your WIP. Every bit of support goes a long way!
K-Dramas
I haven’t watched K-Dramas in a LONG time. My caregiver-burnout-recovery-Sunday was spent in bed while I watched Idol I. Here’s the premise: An extremely successful and neurodivergent-coded lawyer, Maeng Se-na, is secretly a K-Pop group fangirl….and she finds herself defending the lead singer in a murder investigation. I MEAN THE STAKES?!! It was an extremely satisfying watch with plenty of yearning, plot twists and feel-good vibes. Highly recommend.
Bad News
The bad news is….as my children get older and more independent, everyone else is aging, from the elders in my life, my husband and (gasp) even me. It’s this bizzare double-aged sword. I’m thrilled that my kids have their own inside jokes with me and we can play games together without (serious) meltdowns. No more diapers!! No more night nursing!! But…I’m aging too. Perimenopause is a strange beast. No hot flushes yet, but my sleep is even more precarious than usual. Combine my usual baseline anxiety with this world being on fire, sandwich generation struggles, regular publishing uncertainty….and yup, my sleep is….not the greatest. Being able to sleep by 10:30 pm regularly is my Everest.
Ramadan
I’m looking forward to Ramadan, and being able to share good publishing news soon!
